Overview of Deep Vein Thrombosis
First of all, let’s start by discussing what Deep vein thrombosis is? Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a clinical disorder that develops whenever a clot of blood appears in a deep vein, or you could say a larger vein. Blood coagulation in the distal leg, thigh, or hips is most common, however, it can even develop in the arms [2]. It is critical to understand DVT since it can affect anyone and cause significant sickness, impairment, and, in some circumstances, death. The best part is that DVT may be avoided and treated if diagnosed early.

Do You know that there is a 50% probability for individuals with unresolved proximal DVT to get Pulmonary Embolism within 3 months? But what is Pulmonary Embolism (PE)? When the blood clot from DVT is detached and travels to the circulation in the lungs, this condition is called PE. And one in four of all the patients who suffer from PE end up dying. PE and DVT are collectively called Venous Thromboembolism or VTE [3].
DVT is characterized by various signs, notably leg discomfort, edema, and vein ulceration in extreme situations [4]. We will further discuss different signs and symptoms in much greater detail. There are different ways you can diagnose this condition as well. If you further read it, you will also get to know different risk factors contributing to DVT and PE. So if you are exposed to any of the risk factors we will discuss here, then it is high time you work for its prevention.
